Generals Involved in the Battle of the Bulge


Anthony McAuliffe-
Anthony McAuliffe was the acting commander for the 101st Airborne Division which was a light infantry division trained for air assault operations. During the Battle of the Bulge his troops defended Bastogne in Belgium.


Omar N, Bradley-
Omar Bradley was the acting commander for the 13th U.S Army Group during World War 2. Temporarily in the Battle of the Bulge, Bradley's army was placed under the command of Montgomery's 21st Army Group for logistical and command reasons.


Courtney Hodges-
Courtney Hodges was a Major General during World war 2 and during the Battle of the Bulge he commanded the 1st U.S Army. This general was ivolved in almost all of the major battles and often would fight alongside Omar Bradley. Hodges and his men were going to be sent overseas to fight against Japan, but due to the atomic bombs being dropped and World War 2 ending they were no longer needed.



George S. Patton-
George S. Patton was one of the more famous generals to be involved in World War 2. The 3rd U.S Army was under his command in the Battle of the Bulge and he and his army fought in various places in Europe throughout the war. Patton played a large part in different battles and is most famously known for his involvement in the Battle of the Bulge.

Bernard Montgomery was most noted for commanding the 21st Army Group during the Battle of the Bulge and World War 2. Montgomery fought along side General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge during the second half of the battle.

Axis Leaders-
Walter Model-
Walter Model was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and commanded Army Group B. Model was involved with the invasion of the Soviet Union and later when he returned to west Europe, he was took part in the the Ardennes Offensive.


Gerd von Rundstedt-
Rundstedt commanded the OB West Army which took part in the Battle of the Bulge. In the beginning of World War 2 he led the Polish Campaign and later was involved in Normady.

Manteuffel commanded the 5th Panzer Army during the Battle of the Bulge. The 5th Panzer Army was oroginally created for defending North Africa and it was later reformed tovtake part in the Western Front. Dietrich originally commanded this group, but durng the Battle of the Bulge he took over control.

Josef Dietrich-
Joesph Dietrich was involved in many aspects of the war. He fought on several front and during the Battle of the Bulge he commanded the 6th Panzer Army. Before the war, Dietrich worked with hitler and soon began to rise through the ranks.

Erich Brandenberger-
The 7th Army was under Brandenberger's control during the Battle of the Bulge and they helped protect German forces, but mostly the 5th Panzer Army. Only a few months after the battle he was captured by the United States.
